Much like perihelion and aphelion, there are terms to describe a satellite's or the Moon's proximity to the Earth.
Perigee: when the Moon, satellite, or spacecraft are closest to the Earth in its orbit
Apogee: when the Moon, satellite, or spacecraft are farthest to the Earth in its orbit
