The ecliptic is the imaginary path on the sky that the Sun transverses as the Earth orbits the Sun. Generally, the ecliptic crosses through the 12 (actually 13) constellations that make up the zodiac in astrology (which is a bunch of nonsense, but I digress). When we talk about axial tilt of the Earth, we refer to the tilt it makes with the ecliptic.
Each planet has it's own ecliptic and its axial tilt is with respect to the axis of its ecliptic.
