I have been interested in astronomy since I was a little kid and first saw Star Wars. Then I saw Star Trek for the first time and realized how cool it would have been actually to go into space. I studied math and science, though I hated math with all my being even though I was good at it. I fell in love with physics when I first took it my junior year of high school. I made it my goal to get my degrees in physics with the intention of finishing with my doctorate in astronomy. I finished my BS in four years at Kansas State and took a year off to figure out where I wanted to go to grad school. I ended up at the University of Pittsburgh where I completed my Master's of Science in Physics where I taught a couple of years of physics, but mostly taught introductory astronomy. I am now a PE in Structural Engineering. Even though I got sidetracked, my love for astronomy has never diminished. I would eventually like to complete my Ph.D. in astronomy.
